Stardew Valley: The Stardew Squad is a complete game-changer

Bring a friend

If you ever felt like your Stardew Valley playthrough was getting a little lonely, this new release is an absolute game changer.

Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone added co-op to the game way back in 2018, allowing you and your mates to take care of a large farm together.

It’s a great “hang out” game that really understands how to bring cosy vibes to your multiplayer gaming, to the point where it’s still beloved today.

Understandably, you’re not always going to be able to play together with your friends though. There’ll always be moments where you can’t seem to get a group together to play.

That’s where ThaliaFawnheart’s The Stardew Squad mod comes in, to keep your Stardew character company when you can’t arrange a game night.

The Stardew Squad basically does what it implies by allowing you to invite NPCs from around Pelican Town to follow you and do tasks with you.

It can be anything from chopping wood to watering crops, and they’ll even have unique dialogue as they follow you around. It should also help these characters feel more dynamic as their interactions begin to feel less scripted.

The Stardew Squad mod is still in beta, and ThaliaFawnheart has a lot of features they want to gradually introduce over time.

This includes new activities to do with the NPCs, such as fishing, mining, and foraging. It will also bring new dialogue, friendship requirements, and unique combat styles.

But considering what’s already there, I’d say it’s pretty impressive.

Although still early in development, The Stardew Squad shows a lot of promise and could be one of our most anticipated mods of the year. You can download the beta over on the Nexus Mods page.

Honestly, I’m not sure why this feature wasn’t available in the base game to begin with. It seems like such an obvious thing now, but ConcernedApe did not add it in.
