Halo Studios has a new creative director! The news was announced on LinkedIn a few days ago by John Williams (otherwise known as J.J. Williams) who shared the news to his 2,000+ followers.
Looking through J.J.’s career, he’s most notably worked at Raven Software on a bunch of Call of Duty titles including Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare 3, Warzone, Vanguard and many others. He initially served as a senior game designer at the company, before later transitioning to an associate creative director.
As you can see from that tweet, he’s also worked on loads of other major franchises including Apex Legends. In fact, he served as a principal designer on Apex from August 2024 until August 2025, so he’s only just left that team!
Beyond that, he’s had experience working on Mortal Kombat, Disney Infinity and lots more over the past two decades.
It’s obviously a busy time at the moment for the Halo series, with multiple new games set to be announced and at least one to be released in 2026, so we wish J.J. the best of luck – it sounds like he’s going to have his hands full!
