How To Defeat Blanche In Clair...

Quick Links

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, nevrons are the creatures or monsters that often attack you and are known to have a hostile nature. However, not all nevrons are the same. You meet one such exception, the Jar Nevron, very early on at Spring Meadows.

Upon talking to this creature, you learn that it has no intentions of harming you or the other expeditioners. As you progress, you find out about the other White Nevrons. Similar to the Jar Nevron, they too need your help.

Interestingly, after you help them out, the game gives you an option to attack them. But just because this is a choice doesn’t mean you should take it, and if you do, Blanche will not forgive you when you meet them the first time.

So, if you are someone who doesn’t care about unlocking the achievement related to this quest, it is too late to go back because you have already killed some white nevrons, or are just looking for a fight, here is how you can beat Blanche.

Where To Find Blanche

You can find Blanche at The Fountain. This is an area meant to be accessed later in the game, so you can only get here after unlocking Esquie’s Fly ability.

Head west from Abbest Cave or northwest from the Dark Shores to get to The Fountain. You can check the exact map location in the above image.

From Expedition flagpost 84, go left, and you will find a white Noir enemy standing in front of you. Interact with them, and depending on how far you are in the quest, you will get the option to talk to them.

If you have killed more than one white nevron, Blanche will mention the number of their brethren that you slaughtered and will attack you, claiming it won’t show you any mercy for your actions.

How To Prepare For The Blanche Fight

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: Blanche Fight Preparations

Similar to Chromatic Aberration, Blanche doesn’t happen to have any weaknesses. Since this enemy is basically a Noir, you might expect Light weapons and attacks to deal extra damage, but they don’t seem to do much.

While it may not have any weaknesses, you can rely on the usual tactics of stacking Burns to deal some extra damage. This fight will not be easy, so it is recommended that you level up your party members so that they are at least level 80.

You should go to the Dark Shores and fight Noirs before starting this fight. Almost all of their moves are the same, so you will get good practice for this fight.

If you are familiar with the Noir moveset, you can attempt this fight earlier. Make sure you equip the Second Chance Lumina. It helps if you accidentally fail a parry and die.

Lastly, you should also level up the best weapons you have to try and get in as much damage as possible.

Best Party Members

Best Team Members For Blanche Fight

For fighting Blanche, my team consisted of level 84 Lune, level 86 Verso, and level 84 Maelle. Verso is here because he has the highest level in the team and some powerful Light attacks. As for Lune and Maelle, both have multiple skills that deal Fire damage and stack burns.

Let us start with Lune. The weapon I used with her was a level 32 Angerim. If you are looking for slightly more damage, you could go for Choralim instead. As for her skills, Hell, Mayhem, and Wildfire are good options. In this fight, you won’t get many chances to heal, so you could skip equipping Healing Light but keep Rebirth in case you need to revive someone.

Lune has one of the most powerful and versatile arsenals in the game, here are the best weapons she can get.

For Verso, I used a level 32 Corpeso, but if you are planning to use more light attacks, you could use something like Delaram or Seeram. His best skills for this fight are Phantom Stars, Perfect Break, Assault Zero, From Fire, and Sabotage (Gradient Skill 1).

Finally, for Maelle, I used a level 32 Brulerum. Although if you are looking for better Fire weapons, you should check out Seashellum or Stalum. Her best skills against Blanche are Pyrolyse, Revenge, Rain of Fire, Swift Stride, and Phoenix Flame (Gradient Skill 2).

Blanche Attack Breakdown

Blanche Attacks List

Blanche only uses 5 attacks, but they can be pretty hard-hitting, so it is important you get down their parry timings. This fight can also last for a while, depending on your level and damage, so being patient helps out. Here are the moves this boss uses:

Attack

Description

Action

Gathering Dark Chroma

Blanche sucks in Dark Chroma from the air and shoots it randomly at the party members. They do this thrice.

Dodge or Parry

Dark Spear Strike

Blanche summons a Dark Spear and attacks with a Gradient attack on a party member.

Gradient Parry just before they swing the spear.

Strange Combo

Blanche smashes their left hand down, then swings their right hand upward in a slapping motion, finally ending the combo by clapping the party member.

Dodge or Parry

Applying Berserk

Blanche uses this move to get stronger. It increases their damage by 5%, and this effect can stack a maximum of 12 times.

Wait

Bestial Combo

This is a 6-Hit combo. Blanche starts by jumping and smacking at the player. Next, they use a left-hand smash down, followed by another jump smack, then another left-hand smash, a left-hand swing, and end the combo with a right-hand uppercut.

Dodge or Parry

How To Beat Blanche In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

How To Defeat Blanche

The best way to defeat Blanche is by attacking it with skills that stack burns. Additionally, it is also recommended that you parry all of their attacks so that you can hit them with counters.

When Blanche does their “gather chroma” attack, look at the animation where they are done collecting the energy, now parry, to parry the shot. For their spear summon attack, wait for them to summon the spear and complete its charge. Now, Gradient parry when they start swinging at you, this will ensure that you land your Gradient counter.

During your turn, you should have enough AP to hit them with your strongest moves. These should be Hell for Lune, Phantom Stars for Verso, and Pyrolyse for Maelle. If Blanche didn’t target a party member and they have less AP, use the next best skill that you have.

Upon Blanche’s next turn, they will start using Strange Combo. This is a move that you should dodge the first few times, especially the clap attack. The proper timing to parry the clap is when Blanche is done stretching their hands, and they are about to move forward.

After Blanche reaches below 50% health, they will start applying Berserk to themselves regularly. The good news is this move takes up one of their turns, so you have one less turn of attacks to worry about. But the bad news is, it increases their damage.

Finally, the one last move that you need to look out for is Bestial Combo. This attack is a stronger version of the ones that Noirs use. Instead of the usual 4-hit combo, this one is a 6-hit combo. Similar to Strange Combo, it is best if you dodge this move the first few times until you get used to getting Perfect dodges in it.

Once you have all the parry timings down, all that is left to do is hit Blanche with counters. Don’t forget to also attack it with your Gradient Skills. One of the best setups you could do is use Verso’s Sabotage to apply Mark and follow it up with Phantom Stars. Keep your attacks coming, and you will defeat Blanche in no time.

Blanche Rewards

Blanche Boss Drops

For defeating Blanche, you get the following rewards:

The above rewards are fine, but they aren’t worth killing the white nevrons. If you are on a new playthrough or haven’t attacked a white nevron yet, it is better if you avoid attacking them and instead help them out.

After you have helped all the white Nevrons, go back and talk to Blanche, and they will reward you with 100x Color of Lumina. This is a much better reward, as you can very easily get Grandiose Chroma Catalyst by farming Noirs at the Dark Shores.
