You can play a stunning RPG on Steam for free that’s been made by just one person, which is an impressive feat, to say the least.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo or mobile devices, keeping up with the latest video game releases is never cheap. Especially during the seemingly never-ending cost of living crisis.
It’s why subscription services such as PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass can be great ways to save money, with a monthly subscription granting access to loads of games that are often much cheaper than a newly released AAA game.
What’s more, having access to free playable demos is a great way to save money. Granted, we’ll often only get a snippet of the game with any demo, but it can drastically reduce the chances of buying a game we’ve looked forward to, only for it to suck (we’ve all been there).
That brings me to the topic of today’s story regarding an indie game, much like Stardew Valley, that has been developed by just one person. The game in question is called Artis Impact from Mas.
“A fun turn-based RPG set in a future world of humans and AI. Play as Akane to explore vibrant locations, battle with simple yet fluid combat, and enjoy side quests full of charming surprises,” reads the description of the game on Steam.
“With a playful, humorous style and clever details, this adventure is light, easy, and full of smiles.”
Furthermore, the visuals are hand-drawn, and they look absolutely gorgeous. In terms of gameplay, it reminds me of old-school Final Fantasy, even the playable character has Sephiroth vibes.
Artis Impact isn’t out until next month, but you can check out the game today by downloading its free Steam demo. Happy days!
Artis Impact will launch on Steam on 7 August 2025.
